Goodbye Catawba Publishing

I found out recently that Catawba Publishing is no more. Drop in on their website and you’ll get the message “Catawba Publishing Is Closed For Business”. I don’t know them personally (never had the opportunity to work with them), but I hate to see a small publisher fold their tent and go away. For the sake of the small publishing industry, sure, but mostly for the sake of the writers. It’s tough out there for anyone trying to write and publish their book and with Catawba Publishing gone, there’s one less resource out there for them now.

So, to Catawba Publishing and the people who worked there,  I say farewell and good journeys.

To the writers who were working with Catawba Publishing – and those who otherwise might have worked with them – I wish you the best and hope you find an excellent new resource to help you publish and market your book.

Write. Write better. Publish

That’s what it’s all about, right? Writers want to constantly improve their craft and share their stories with lots of people. Readers want to read the good stuff – the really good stuff – so it’s in their best interest for writers to constantly get better, so there’s more good stuff to go around.

In that spirit, the folks here at Altura are putting together some pretty nifty plans. Plans that include a meet-up group, writer’s workshops, readers groups, publishing packages for writers and lots more. Lots of plans. Great plans. Plans that, unfortunately, take time.

Time is the enemy, but we’re working with it as best we can. As we’re able to snatch what time we can and make our plans happen, we’ll be announcing our progress here. We hope you’ll check back with us often so you’ll be the first to know.
